"Your company and people are a pleasure to work with. I never have to worry if a load will be late."
CHALLENGE
One of the world's largest tire manufacturers, produces tires at its manufacturing facilities in South Korea and in
and then ships the products to New Jersey. From there, the company needs a Midwest warehouse and transport partner
with specific expertise in auto assembly plant just-in-time (JIT) shipping to ensure tires are delivered when
promised to Ford plants in Michigan and Ohio.
SOLUTION
Evans Distribution Systems provides regional expertise, flexibility and attention to detail in managing the last
leg of the imported tires' journey. The relationship began with warehousing and delivery of tires for one vehicle,
and has expanded over the years to include additional vehicles.
A key to success is Evans' proactive, responsive approach. Evans affixes multiple 2-D barcode labels to each tire as a
value-added service to track manufacturing information critical for assembly sequencing and accountability purposes.
The accuracy of the inventory, which is located on custom-built racks in the Evans warehouse, is essential in keeping
the sequencing process running smooth. The customer's needs are anticipated and orders are quickly filled to keep the
assembly lines running.
BENEFITS
Evans' delivery of these tires on a JIT basis is seamless to the automaker - with a 5 year record of excellent service.
Most important, Evans has been instrumental in positioning the customer as an increasingly valuable partner to
Ford Motor Company. The program has been so successful that the customer has continued to use Evans for delivering
tires to other automotive customers as they grow in the U.S. market.
Evans has displayed an excellent ability to adapt to our operational objectives and at the same time shown their expertise in warehousing by utilizing their own techniques to enhance the operation.
