During the summer months Evans Distribution Systems welcomes new and returning interns to our team. From supporting day-to-day operations to contributing to meaningful projects, our interns play an important role while building the skills and knowledge that will help shape their future careers.
This year we had the pleasure of having two interns that have been eager to learn, grow, and gain firsthand experience in the logistics industry. We’re excited to introduce our new intern Cooper Bomers, and returning intern from last year, Seamus Rinnan!
Cooper Bomers
Cooper Bomers is new to the Evans team this year as an intern in our Human Resources Department. Cooper attends Oakland University where he is studying Human Resources Development and is expecting to graduate and earn his degree in the winter of 2026. Cooper has taken full advantage of the learning opportunities driven by a top-notch HR team.
When he is not at work, Cooper enjoys running, fishing, video games, and spending time with friends. He enjoyed quality time over July 4th weekend fishing with his father in Florida.

Lastly, Cooper shares valuable advice for the next year’s interns. “I would tell new interns not to worry about making a mistake. Everyone at Evans is kind and understanding, and they truly want interns to have a great experience.”
Seamus Rinnan
Seamus Rinnan is experiencing his second year as an intern Evans—although in a new role and department. Last year he interned in accounting, and now he is a valued member of the transportation team. Seamus attends University of Miami of Ohio where he is studying finance with a minor in accounting and is expected to graduate in May of 2028. This year, he welcomed the chance to return to Evans to learn about transportation dispatch operations.
When Seamus is not working, he enjoys going on runs and traveling to exciting locales like Silver Lake Sand Dunes.

We also asked Seamus what advice he would give to the next group of interns. “People are a lot friendlier than you imagine so do not be scared to talk to people and get to know them. You never know who you will meet and what opportunities they may bring in the future!”

Celebrating First Year Anniversaries at Evans
Evans Distribution has had an abundance of success transitioning internships into full-time positions, as evident from our content series known as “Promote from Within.” In fact, key leaders within Human Resources, Sales, and Accounting, all started out as interns—way back when!
At Evans, we strive to recognize talent and ambition within all Evans’ employees and jump at the chance to recruit motivated individuals. Today, we are excited to showcase two more rising stars who interned last summer and are celebrating their one-year anniversary in their new roles at Evans Distribution Systems.
Mac O’Brien, Data & AI Lead
Mac O’Brien interned within our operations team on a new account last summer. Today, she leads our internal AI and automation development initiative at Evans! As the Data & AI Lead, Mac collaborates across all departments to build specialized solutions to eliminate redundancies and improve our current systems and processes.
In order to accomplish this, Mac starts with a fundamental question: In what ways could your day be easier or more efficient? “I love exploring different roles within the organization and having a direct hand in making their workday better,” Mac says. “It’s like solving a puzzle—they explain their pain points and I design a solution.”
In this highly innovative role, Mac has learned that a solution can come in many shapes, sizes, and levels of difficulty. “Sometimes I arrive at a solution quickly, and other times, I start in one direction and end up in another.”
Mac has always had an interest in AI, programming, and software development. In combination with her intuitive and curious nature, Mac is an ideal candidate to integrate emerging technologies into Evans Distribution.
Her coolest project so far? “I am working an LTL Quotation tool as well as developing data agents in Evans data lake system. The data lake is a centralized data bank that uncovers business insights from multiple datasets,” she says.
As she reflects upon her first-year anniversary, she has a few words of encouragement to future interns who are looking for the same success. “I would say put yourself out there and have confidence in your skills, you never know where you’ll end up.”

Christine Li, Account Supervisor, Warehouse Operations
Last summer, Evans onboarded a brand new account that needed help streamlining their high SKU fulfillment operation of industrial grade manufacturing components. The tracking and tracing nearly 20,000 components with the slightest variation in shape or size added complexity to designing an operation that would allow us to meet our high-quality standards.
Christine Li was another superstar intern that was up for the challenge right out of the gate! She displayed an aptitude to pick up complex operations quickly and identify areas of continuous improvement—qualities that you would expect in the most seasoned operations professionals.
Her incredible work ethic and dedication to overseeing the success of the account has spilled over to the success of her team. She was instrumental in providing specialized training to a new team of processors, detailing specific requirements of the picking, packing, and shipping processes. When questions arose, her approachable demeanor and deep knowledge kept the momentum going on the busiest of days.
“I do whatever is needed on a daily basis to ensure the success of the account, including managing and correcting inventory, scheduling outbound shipments, and responding to customer needs,” says Christine.
From the start, Christine thrived in the warehouse environment. “One of my favorite aspects of the role is that it allows me to frequently use my problem-solving skills to resolve issues on the fly. It’s challenging—yet rewarding,” she says. She also appreciated the opportunity to gain hands-on experience from day one. “I’ve learned about the full operational process from receiving all the way to shipping.”
Her coolest project so far? “The implementation of the Vertical Lift Module (VLM),” Christine says. “It’s like a giant vending machine that holds thousands of parts and stages them to ensure easy and accurate picking.”
The state-of-the-art storage retrieval system is challenging at times because it requires a unique inventory management system that is independent of Evans’ warehouse management system (WMS). “Loading all of the parts has been a long, ongoing process, but watching the VLM in action is very cool and seeing the progress over time has made it worthwhile,” she says.
