Allocated Inventory

Allocated inventory is inventory that is reserved for a specific order, customer, promotional event, or other purpose and is not to be used for standard order fulfillment purposes. Once allocated, this stock is no longer available as usable inventory for new orders.

Airbag

An airbag is an inflatable bag used to fill empty space on a load of product to keep the product from shifting.

Advance Shipping Notice (ASN)

Document that is sent by a supplier to a customer in advance of delivery. It typically includes details about the shipment such as the type and quantity of goods being shipped, the expected delivery date, and the shipment’s origin and destination. The purpose of an ASN is to provide the recipient with advance notice of an upcoming delivery, allowing them to prepare and manage their receiving operations more efficiently.

Accessorial

Supplemental activity or material, outside normal handling and storage, that is billable in accordance with the client’s contract.

ABC Classification

ABC classification is a method used in inventory management to categorize items based on their annual consumption value. “A” items are the most valuable and have the highest consumption rate, while “C” items are the least valuable with the lowest consumption rate.
