How to Promote from Within: Featuring Sauvette Sumler

When Sauvette Sumler started here at Evans in June 2014, she worked the Value Added line. She packaged liquor, worked on our Girl Scouts account, and eventually became a line leader for Unwired, another Evans customer. This leadership position involved responsibilities such as training others how to inspect electrical components for quality—making sure there were no scratches, and so on—as well as making sure headphones moved down the line smoothly.

In May 2016, Sauvette moved on to Security, working at the front gate of our headquarters. From there, Sauvette moved to the Sales & Marketing Assistant position, where she now works the reception area and provides assistance to the Sales & Marketing department. She’s also involved in working on the CRM database.

In addition to this, Sauvette assists with One-Shots, and is very helpful in the Accounting department, helping with the trailer detention list, and assisting with invoices in stamping, scanning, mailing, and other administrative tasks. Sauvette has also recently assisted with Value Added, helping with kitting instructions, as well as stamping for Vent Balloons.

Sauvette’s favorite part of the job is creating workflows—she’s a fan of data and numbers. Workflows are especially useful to the Sales & Marketing department as they streamline the amount of work that needs to be done, and save time. She also enjoys welcoming customers to Evans, and putting together the welcome signs downstairs. Sauvette continues to develop her communication skills in speaking with customers, answering the phones, and working with multiple departments. She hopes to continue to develop these skills as time goes on.

In order to stay successful, Sauvette emphasizes that staying positive helps her achieve positive results, by staying focused and happy. She advises others looking to move up in the company, to “learn what you can, wherever you are now—and don’t be afraid to ask questions.” Evans is proud to support such a multi-talented employee, whose efforts provide assistance to multiple departments. We look forward to seeing great work from Sauvette in the years to come!
