We’ve mentioned the partnership opportunities for 3PLs and the movie industry before (It’s Show Time for 3PLs), but today I want to plug Evans Distribution Systems (just a little) for another way we would like to work with the movie industry in Michigan.
The Michigan Film Office has been supporting media industries for about 30 years now, and they’ve got some great resources on their website. One of the tools you can find there is a Location Search tool that lets you specify a type of building/business or particular area where you are looking to shoot your scenes.
It’s pretty cool just to take a look at all the options people are offering up for film locations throughout the state, but it was even cooler to add our Melvindale building as a potential site. That’s right, Evans’ corporate headquarters and warehouse in Michigan is now a potential film location. (Get ready for the plug it’s coming…) 
As I took some pictures this morning to include with our location listing, I thought of a million different uses for our property. Film Makers take notice because we have a seriously COOL location!
- We are on a private road that sits next to the freeway, so easy filming for traffic scenes.
- There are endless opportunities for filming inside a 400,000 square foot warehouse, and we have a wooded lot (that we own) right next to the warehouse that is 20+ acres and could be used for outside scenes.
- We have a crazy large roof and a rail line going into our building. What good action movie doesn’t need a roof or train scene, right?
- There’s more space for parking and storage of trucks and trailers then could possibly be used by a film crew in our yard/lots.
- Our property is fenced and we have 24 hour security to help manage crazy fans trying to sneak a peek at the stars.
I know I should be ashamed of using our blog to plug Evans in this way, but this is Hollywood people and we need to grab hold of any advantage we can. So, anyone coming into Michigan to film a movie with say Johnny Depp, Robert Pattinson, Orlando Bloom, or Christian Bale, CALL ME…I know the perfect location!
