Evans Distribution Systems Operates as an Essential Business in Michigan

We hope this finds you in good health. Our first priority is the personal well-being of our employees and customers during this challenging time. It’s also important for us to continue to support the health of our customers’ businesses as we navigate through this pandemic.

At 11 a.m. today, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced a “stay at home, stay safe” order in the state of Michigan. As of midnight, residents are required to stay at home and non-essential businesses must stop requiring employees to report to work. This order will be in effect until April 13.

As with similar orders, there are exemptions for essential purposes such as shopping for food, gas and medical supplies. There are also exemptions for certain manufacturing operations known as an essential services to “critical infrastructure industry.” Transportation and logistics, the core services provided by Evans Distribution Systems and all of our operating companies, are deemed “essential” under the order.

Guidance has indicated that businesses issue statements of their essential classification with reasoning to support this designation. We are asking all customers to please send us your letters as further documentation of our designation. Kindly send your documentation to sales@evansdist.com. These letters will be valuable to support our position as we continue to provide uninterrupted services.
